Udupi: The Central Government has given permission for distribution of local boiled rice through the public distribution system. In the midst of all this, the Central Government has given permission to provide boiled rice to the Coastal people, said Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje and added that the State Government should immediately set up paddy procurement centres and make arrangements for farmers to supply paddy to paddy procurement centres.

Speaking to mediapersons she said that the State Government should also take action in this regard as the Central Government had given permission even before the harvest. The Indrali Railway Bridge issue has already been brought to the notice of Union Minister for Highways Nitin Gadkari. The new proposal is at the stage of getting clearance from the Railways. Immediately after this, permission will be granted by the National Highways Department, she said.

Stating that the delay was due to lack of coordination between officials of the Railways and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) due to technical reasons, she said that the bridge is less than 200 metres long. Both the departments should come together and resolve the issue immediately, she said.

Rahul Gandhi’s physical fitness is being showcased through Bharat Jodo. Is it possible for them to lead the country? Rahul Gandhi may be physically fit. Is he mentally fit?, she asked and added “People have to decide whether they are capable of ruling the country.”

Karandlaje said, Hijab case is likely to be transferred to a Constitution bench as the two judges have given different verdicts in the case. The court will decide whether there is a need for Hijab in this country or not, she noted. She said that the events in Iran regarding the denial of Hijab should be available guiding light for Muslim women in India.

Some people are frustrated after the PFI’s ban. Therefore, those who speak on Hindu issues are being threatened. But we will not cow down,” she said.
