Udupi: PSI Purushotham conducts raid on illegal sand mining

Karnataka Lokayukta raids underway at 75 places linked to officials

Udupi: Padubidri PSI Purushotham and staff on Thursday February 16 raided an illegal sand mining area at AvaraluKoppalu in Palimaru Village of the District.

Police has seized a big boat kept on the banks of Shambhavi River in the District to be used by the smugglers during the night for sand mining. Though the traffickers temporarily stopped their illegal activity after receiving a warning from the Police that they might raid them.

According to Police sources, they have been keeping a close watch on all the developments from the DK Border beyond Shambhavi River and are continuing with their business by gaining time.
