Udupi/Chikkamagaluru: After the DySP Kallappa Handibhag case that gripped the attention of the state, Chikkamagaluru SP Santhosh Babu has been transferred to Gadag and able officer and ‘Singham of Udupi’ Annamalai will be taking charge as the Chikkamagaluru SP.
Kallappa Handibhag had ended life after his name cropped up in an abduction and extortion case in Chikkamagaluru. Following this, Chikkamagaluru SP Santhosh Babu too was caught in eye of storm as Kallappa’s family held the SP responsible in a way for the death.
Meanwhile, Annamalai, an upright and no non-sense officer who has won the hearts of the people as the SP of district is going to take charge as Chikkamagaluru SP.
He was responsible for transformation of Karkala police station into model station when he was the ASP. He had brought in a compulsory leave system in place where every person working the department was asked to avail their weekly offs without fail. This, he said was important to boost the morale of the police force.
Balakrishna, SP of Gadag will take charge as Udupi SP.
Even rumours of Annamalai’s transfer in the past had not gone too well with the people of Udupi and now, one may only have to wait and watch what the people of Udupi would do.
