Udupi: ‘Steps to be taken to prevent sand mining in Udyavara’

Udupi: In connection with the illegal sand mining in Udyavara Matha’s Kudru premises, Tahasildar’s, Police officials, officials of the mines department were sent to the spot after holding talks with the Deputy Commissioner.

Udupi Superintendent of Police Hakay Akshay Machhindra has said that they have taken steps to ensure that no sand mining takes place here.

Speaking to mediapersons in here, he said that if such illegal activity is noticed in future, they should immediately call the 112 control room. He said that three accused have been arrested in connection with the case of damaging the bike of Bhaskara Karkera.

It can be recalled here that Karkera had participated in a press conference convened by Adamaru Swamiji and raised the issue of illegal sand mining.
