Udupi: Maharshi Valmiki, who wrote the epic Ramayana, which conveys a message of great human values to the world, said MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat.
He was speaking after paying floral tributes to the portrait of Valmiki at the Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti celebrations organised by the District Administration, Gram Panchayat, Municipal Corporation, Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department and Scheduled Tribes Association at The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium in Rajatadri Deputy Commissioner’s Office complex on Sunday October 9. He added that the epic will be remembered forever. As we have seen the epic is eternal, he noted.
Inaugurating the programme, Coastal Development Authority Chairman Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde said Valmiki made India a holy land through the creation of Ramayana.
CMC President Sumitra Nayak presided over the function. Teacher Narendra Kumar Kota delivered a lecture on Valmiki’s personality and life.
