Udupi: We can’t rest until the Surathkal toll gate, which is operating illegally is dismantled. The agitation would be intensified in this regard, said Former Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was addressing the protesters at a sit-in protest organised in every Assembly Constituency in both the Districts as per the resolution of the Anti-Toll Action Committee to cancel the Surathkal tollgate at Kapupet on Saturday November 12 in association with the Kapu Block Congress Committee and other like-minded organisations. “MPs and MLAs from both the Districts are filling their treasurers through the Surathkal tollgate, which is now operating unauthorisedly, saying that they will close the Hejamady tollgate if it is opened as promised during the construction of a toll gate at Surathkal seven years ago. It is condemnable that the people of Udupi who travel between Udupi – Mangaluru have to pay toll on both sides, he said.

He alleged that there was no one to listen to the cries of the people of Kaup Constituency, which is bordering Dakshina Kannada District.
