Udupi: Vishalakshiamma, a 62-year-old widow who was forced go to Ashram by her own son and grandson for property has got justice finally.

While addressing the press persons Vishalakshiamma said that she belonged to the weavers’ community and had 2 properties, one her own, and the other,  from her husband long back. Both the properties are now under the control of her son, who cheated her. She  was forced to go to an old age home in Bengaluru.

Ultimately when her case reached Ravidra Shanbhagh  of the Human Rights Foundation, he sent a letter to the Women and Child Development minister, Umashree saying that at least Vishalakshiamma deserve to get her own property back.

However the order by the Director of Women and Child welfare to the Assistant Commissioner of Police asking Visalakhshi’s son to immediately vacate the house, was pending execution for the past  one and a half year.

Ravidra Shanbhagh told media that “under the guidelines of HRC, the order will be executed with police protection to Vishalakshamma”.

Vishalakshi amma thanked Rajaneesh Koyal, Principal Secretary on the occasion.
