In the midst of a diplomatic spat between India and the Maldives over Lakshadweep, Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath used social media to highlight a lesser-known gem in Karnataka. He expressed his admiration for a remote beach in Mulki, a tiny town close to Udupi that is renowned for its pristine surroundings and serene beauty, on X.

The quiet charm of the hidden beach was described by Kamath in his post, which was a breath of fresh air given the busy, littered beaches of well-known tourist destinations like Bali and Thailand. He emphasized the special charm of this coastal gem in India, which is unspoiled by the craziness of crowds that frequently afflicts well-known western beaches.

The co-founder of Zerodha also praised the regional food, especially the “mindblowing” Mangi dish, which is a specialty of the Udupi region. Additionally, he made note of the fact that traveling abroad doesn’t always involve the hassles of expensive seaplane rides, boat excursions, or navigating immigration and visa procedures.
“India has some spectacular hidden beaches, this one is near my hometown in Udupi. Unlike beaches in the west, no crowds/chaos (game-changer this), no trash-filled beaches like Bali and Thailand right now, plus Mangi food is mindblowing. Also, no expensive seaplanes, boat rides, immigration, visas or waiting in lines at international airports,” reads the caption.
People flooded the comments with enquiries about the beach’s location and how to visit it. Many were thrilled at the prospect of exploring a new coastal sanctuary, while others took the opportunity to share their own secret beach spots across India.
