Karwar: “Efforts are on to include Halakki, Kunbi and Gauli Tribal communities residing in Uttara Kannada District, in the Scheduled Tribe Category. It has been decided to spend Rs. 22 Lakh to conduct an ethnographic study of the Gauli community,” said District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

Addressing a press conference at the Police Parade Ground at Kajubagh in the City, he said that an ethnographic study of the Kunbi and Halakki communities has already been done. “No study report has been rejected. Only a few of its elements have been rejected,” he informed.

The lapses will be looked into and action will be taken soon, he said.
