Mysuru: Forest authorities successfully intervened in rescuing two leopard cubs from the sugarcane fields situated in Guddadakoppalu village within the T. Narasipur taluk district on Friday. The cubs were discovered amidst the sugarcane harvest within Doreswami’s farm in Guddadakoppalu village. Swift and efficient action was taken by labourers who were engaged in the harvesting process, leading to the prompt rescue of the young leopards from this unexpected environment. The labourers quickly handed over the rescued cubs to the local forest department to ensure their proper care and well-being.

Local farmers have raised concerns about the presence of menacing leopards in the village, which have been preying on domestic animals. They have appealed to the forest department to take action in capturing these leopards. The farmers have specifically requested the installation of a cage in the sugarcane fieldintending to captureng the mother leopard along with her cubs during the night. This strategic approach is aimed at ensuring the safe capture of the entire leopard family. The villagers have also urged forest officials to subsequently relocate the mother and cubs to a distant forest area, away from the vicinity of the village.
