BJP Kisan Morcha Protests Against Cow Mutilation Incident in Davangere
Davangere: BJP Kisan Morcha activists staged a protest in Davangere on Tuesday, demanding stringent legal action against the accused who allegedly mutilated the udders of three cows in Bengaluru’s Chamarajpet during the Sankranti festival.
Gathering at Gundi Mahadevappa Circle, the protesters voiced their anger, holding the state government accountable. They raised slogans against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, and the Congress party while observing a ‘Black Sankranti’ with cows as a mark of distress.
“The brutal act of mutilating cows’ udders appears to be premeditated. Though the accused has been arrested, the government is shielding him, delaying justice, and hurting Hindu sentiments,” alleged district BJP President Rajashekar Nagappa.
Highlighting the cultural significance of cows, Nagappa stated, “In Indian tradition, a cow is revered as a mother. Cow’s milk is as sacred as mother’s milk, and cows are worshipped during festivals like Sankranti. This heinous act reflects a deliberate attack on Hindu values.”
Criticizing the Congress government, former BJP district president Yashwantrao Jadhav claimed, “The administration’s minority appeasement policy and failure to enact strict laws encourage such incidents. Even donating 100 cows cannot justify such acts.”
The protesters urged strict legal action against individuals involved in such crimes and policies that, they allege, favor extremist elements.
BJP leaders including Lokikere Nagaraj, N A Murugesh, Shivanahalli Ramesh, and others participated in the protest, emphasizing the need for better laws to protect sacred cultural symbols.
