Rowdy-Sheeter Kanuma Santosh Hacked to Death in Broad Daylight in Davanagere
Davanagere: In a shocking act of violence, notorious rowdy-sheeter Santosh Kumar, known locally as Kanuma Santosh (50), was murdered in cold blood by a gang of assailants on Monday evening on Hadadi Road.
Santosh, who was also active in real estate in KTJ Nagar, had more than 10 criminal cases against him, including murder and fraud. He was reportedly a prime suspect in the killing of another rowdy, Bull Naga.
The brutal attack occurred at 5:30 PM while Kanuma was at a shop near Someshwara Multi-Speciality Hospital. A group of 7-8 attackers arrived in an auto-rickshaw, threw pepper powder in his eyes, and then slashed him with lethal weapons. Eyewitnesses heard the gang shouting “Ughe! Ughe!” as they fled the scene.
The brazen murder, believed to stem from old rivalries in the criminal underworld, has sent shockwaves through the city. Superintendent of Police Uma Prashanth confirmed the formation of four special teams led by DSP Sharan Basaveshwar to track down the suspects. “Efforts are on to gather more information and arrest the culprits,” she said.
This daylight killing has once again drawn attention to rising gang rivalries and the need for tighter policing in Davanagere.
