DAVANAGERE: A hefty fine of ₹25,000 was imposed on a two-wheeler owner after traffic police caught a minor riding the scooter near the dental college area on Friday.

The South traffic police were conducting routine checks when they stopped the young rider. Upon discovering that he was underage and did not possess a valid driving licence, a case was promptly registered.

The vehicle’s owner was called to the police station, penalised ₹25,000 under the Motor Vehicles Act, and warned strictly against allowing underage individuals to use the vehicle again. The scooter was released only after the fine was paid and an official warning was issued.

Police have urged all parents and guardians to ensure minors do not operate motor vehicles, emphasizing that violations will attract strict legal and financial consequences.
