A decomposed male body was discovered near a canal on the outskirts of Bengaluru, in the Bashettihalli area of Doddaballapur taluk, police confirmed on Wednesday.
The corpse, found stuffed inside a gunny sack, is believed to be that of a man aged between 35 and 40 years.
Preliminary assessment suggests the victim may have been murdered elsewhere and the body later dumped near the canal.
Based on the state of decomposition, officials estimate the death occurred over a week ago.
“The condition of the remains indicates the body had been there for several days,” an officer noted.
The body has been sent for forensic testing and a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
A detailed investigation is currently underway, and authorities are working to establish the identity of the deceased.
