Hubballi: Although the murder case of Anjali Ambiger was handed over to the CID, finding the murder weapon has become a major challenge for the team. Anjali Ambiger was brutally stabbed to death at her grandmother’s house in Veerapur Oni on May 15.
The CID team took custody of the accused, Viswa alias Girish Sawant, for eight days. Sawant was also taken to the murder spot located in Veerapur Oni in Hubballi.
The accused was escorted around the crime scene by the police and CID officials and questioned at various places in Veerapur Oni.
Simultaneously, locals and Anjali’s sister hurled abuses at the accused Girish and expressed their anger. CID officials pacified the family and the team, using a metal detector to search for the knife used in the murder. CID police are searching all the places where the accused fled after committing the murder.
