Dharwad man in China debunks HMPV virus scare
Amid rising concerns about the HMPV virus outbreak in China, Dharwad native Shashi Shiraguppi, currently residing in Shenzhen, has dismissed fears, claiming everything is normal.
In a self-shot video, Shiraguppi documented his visit to a Shenzhen hospital, a mall, and a metro station. He stated, “If there was a health emergency, my son’s school would have warned us, but no such advisory has been issued. Hospitals aren’t crowded, and most people aren’t wearing masks.”
Highlighting everyday life, he noted that metro services are operating smoothly, and large gatherings, like New Year celebrations at tourist spots, are proceeding without restrictions. Shiraguppi emphasized that restaurants are thriving, and people are moving about confidently.
He urged the public to disregard circulating “unverified” videos, which he believes exaggerate the situation.
