Dharwad Police Nab Interstate Theft Duo, Recover ₹9.25 Lakh Worth of Stolen Jewelry
In a major success for regional law enforcement, Dharwad Suburban Police have apprehended two interstate criminals linked to a string of thefts across Karnataka and neighboring states.
The arrested individuals are Guna Meenakshi Sakthi, aged 37, from Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu—who targeted commuters by stealing bags at bus terminals—and 46-year-old Kamepalli Srinivas from Andhra Pradesh’s Godavari district, notorious for house break-ins.
Acting on investigative leads, officers tracked and detained the suspects, confirming their involvement in two cases registered at the Dharwad Suburban Police Station and another under Gokul Road Police Station jurisdiction.
Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to their crimes, leading authorities to recover stolen ornaments valued at ₹9.25 lakh. The loot includes 100 grams of gold and 750 grams of silver jewelry.
Following standard procedure, both suspects were produced in court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
This development underscores the diligence and efficiency of the Dharwad police in dismantling criminal networks operating across state lines. The recovery of stolen valuables also brings relief to the victims and highlights the department’s commitment to public safety and justice.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover potential links to additional thefts and collaborators across other districts.
