In a significant judgment, the Second Additional District and Special POCSO Sessions Court in Dharwad sentenced Manjunath, a 35-year-old, to ten and a half years of imprisonment and imposed a ₹52,000 fine for exploiting a minor girl.
The incident occurred while Manjunath’s wife was hospitalized. He reportedly coerced a minor neighbor into silence after an incident that led to serious repercussions. The victim’s mother reported the matter to the Dharwad Women’s Police Station. Following a thorough investigation, a charge sheet was filed, resulting in his conviction.
The court also directed ₹4 lakh in compensation for the minor, aiding in her recovery and support. This verdict reinforces the judiciary’s commitment to addressing crimes under the POCSO Act.
