Fatal Elephant Attack Claims Life of Coffee Grower in Kodagu District

Tragedy struck Beeruga village in Ponnampet taluk on Monday morning as a 50-year-old coffee grower lost his life in a sudden elephant attack. Ayyamada Madaiah was walking by the roadside when he was unexpectedly attacked by an elephant. Despite efforts to save him, Madaiah succumbed to severe injuries on the spot, as confirmed by Srimangala wildlife division RFO Aravind.

The incident has sparked fear among villagers due to increased elephant movement in the area. Elephant menace has been escalating in Kodagu district, with six lives lost so far this year. Local residents are voicing their concerns over the rising threat posed by elephants.

Prompt response from forest officials and police followed the tragic event, as they rushed to the scene to assess the situation and address the concerns of the affected community.
