Annapurna Shivappa Rathod, 54, a government primary school headmistress, was found brutally murdered in her house at Navanagar, Gajendragad, on Saturday. The miscreants reportedly used a wooden circular board, commonly used for making Jolada Rotti, as the weapon to carry out the crime.

Police officials, including the Ron Circle Inspector, Gajendragad PSI, fingerprint experts, and a dog squad, promptly visited the scene to investigate. Rathod had been living alone in her residence, while her sons were pursuing their education in Bengaluru. She was currently deputed to the Ron BEO office after reported disagreements with members of the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) in Lakkalakatti, her former workplace.

Relatives and neighbors revealed that Rathod traveled daily to Ron for her duties. A complaint was lodged by her relative, Ramesh Shivappa Rathod, a lab technician at the Community Health Center in Gajendragad. He suspected the crime occurred between the evening of December 19 and the morning of December 21.

Police, however, believe the murder likely took place on Friday night or early Saturday morning, with further details expected to emerge from the ongoing investigation. Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the brutal killing and bring those responsible to justice.
