GADAG/SHIVAMOGGA: In a sweeping anti-corruption operation, Karnataka Lokayukta officials raided seven properties linked to D.B. Patil, the Circle Police Inspector (CPI) of Gadag Town Police Station, following serious allegations of accumulating wealth beyond his known sources of income.
The meticulously coordinated raids—conducted in Gadag, Bagalkot, Jamkhandi, and Kerur—were led by Lokayukta CPI Parashuram Kavatagi, under the supervision of DySP Pushpalatha and officer P.S. Patil. The teams examined property documents, financial records, and cash holdings inch-by-inch to uncover possible unaccounted wealth.
Lokayukta sources confirmed that credible information had prompted the operation, with concerns of misuse of official position to amass illegal assets. Patil’s financial dealings are now under intense scrutiny.
In a related move, the Lokayukta also raided the home of an Assistant Government Officer (AGO) in Shivamogga, booking the individual under Crime No. 9/25 for suspected possession of disproportionate assets.
The raids were part of a larger crackdown across Karnataka that spanned several departments and districts. Officials conducted surprise inspections at BBMP offices in Govindrajnagar (Bengaluru), Chikkamagaluru Town Municipality, Anekal Town Municipality, and various sites in Dharwad, Kalaburagi, and Belagavi. Key targets included:
-
An assistant engineer with BBMP
An associate research director of organic farming
A town municipality accounts officer (Anekal)
A chief officer and former RDPR engineer (Kalaburagi)
An engineer with the Malaprabha project (Dharwad)
The Chief Engineer in Belagavi
This expansive action signals the Lokayukta’s renewed resolve to hold public servants accountable. Further updates are awaited as officials continue compiling evidence and assessing the value of seized assets.
