Forest officials flee as furious elephant chases; cameraman stands fearless
In a nail-biting incident from Karnataka’s Hassan district, two forest department officials narrowly escaped death after an enraged wild elephant charged at them. The entire scene, captured courageously by a cameraman who stood unfazed as the elephant thundered towards him, has now gone viral.
The drama unfolded in a village in Belur Taluk when a wild elephant, having strayed from its habitat, wandered into farmland. Forest officials Prashant and Sunil arrived to guide the elephant back into the forest. However, instead of retreating, the elephant turned hostile and charged at them.
The video footage shows the officials sprinting frantically with the furious elephant hot on their heels, while the cameraman fearlessly holds his ground to capture the chase. Fortunately, both officials managed to dodge the attack, escaping without injuries.
Locals and netizens hailed the daring act of the cameraman, applauding his nerves of steel amidst chaos. Social media was flooded with reactions—some praising the officials’ quick reflexes, others humorously pointing out how cameramen always seem to avoid harm in such encounters.
This isn’t the first instance of human-elephant conflict making headlines. Recently, a similar incident in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri saw an elephant attacking a JCB machine after being provoked, lifting the heavy vehicle effortlessly.
The Hassan encounter once again highlights the fragile balance between wildlife and human settlements, and the unpredictable nature of wild animals when confronted.
