Sakaleshpur (Hassan): Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy criticized National Highway officials for their negligence, irresponsibility, and unscientific work, which has led to the deterioration of roads. He vowed to inform Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and push for scientifically sound roadwork.
While reviewing the situation in various taluk areas in Dakshina Kannada and Hassan on Sunday, Kumaraswamy stated that heavy rains have filled reservoirs, temporarily alleviating conflicts with neighboring states. He also responded to Minister Mankala Vaidya’s statement that the government cannot provide ₹10 lakh compensation to those who lost homes due to rains, inviting him to visit Kodagu and claiming that he had built a house at that cost during his tenure.
Leader of Opposition R. Ashok joined Kumaraswamy in criticizing the situation. District administration officials cooperated in inspecting the area where a barrier had been placed earlier. Deputy Chief Minister DK Sivakumar sarcastically suggested calling in the military to stop the “looting” in the state, which he deemed worse than terrorist activity.
