Hassan gears up with safety measures and crackdown on fake news
Deputy Commissioner C Satyabhama stated that proactive steps have been initiated to ensure public safety in Hassan, in line with the directions from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Speaking to the media, she detailed a series of actions including strict monitoring of ration grain distribution, enrolment drives for the civil defence force, and the identification of government colleges to serve as emergency shelters.
Additionally, nodal officers have been appointed, and strategies for crowd regulation, healthcare readiness, and mapping of high-density population zones have been discussed and implemented.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sujeetha highlighted that the state government has instructed the police to take firm disciplinary action against those circulating doctored or misleading videos and content online. She warned that social media users who engage in spreading misinformation will face strict legal consequences.
As part of preparedness efforts, mock drills have already been held at key locations, including Arasikere railway station, the HPCL facility, and selected areas within Hassan city to test emergency response systems.
