Sakleshpur (Hassan District): A 25-year-old male elephant was electrocuted after coming into contact with a live wire at Banavase village near Balupete in Sakleshpur taluk on Thursday. According to the Forest Department, the incident occurred when the elephant’s trunk touched a low-hanging high-tension wire.
Range Forest Officer Hemanth Kumar visited the scene to assess the situation. Local residents, however, claimed that the elephant’s death resulted from a low-lying electricity cable and expressed concerns about the negligence of CESC engineers responsible for maintaining the lines.
