A devastating accident claimed the lives of four family members near the Haveri-Dharwad border on Wednesday. The incident occurred on the highway near Belligatti village in Timmapur, within the Tadas police station limits.
According to authorities, the crash happened when an SUV traveling toward Hubballi lost control, veered over the road divider, and collided head-on with a car heading to Bengaluru. The car, carrying four occupants, including a child aged approximately 10-12 years, was completely wrecked in the collision.
Two victims succumbed instantly, while the remaining two were rushed to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi, where they were declared dead. The identities of the deceased and further details are yet to be released.
Police are investigating the incident to ascertain the cause of the SUV losing control, highlighting the need for increased road safety awareness and vigilance.
