In a startling case of alleged medical malpractice, a nurse at Adoor Primary Health Center in Hanagal taluk, Haveri district, reportedly used ‘Fevi Kwik’ adhesive instead of stitches to treat a seven-year-old boy’s wound. The shocking incident occurred on January 14 and came to light after the child’s family raised an alarm and recorded the treatment on video.
The young boy, Gurukishan Annappa Hosamani, suffered a cheek injury while playing. His family rushed him to the health center for immediate care. However, instead of suturing the wound, nurse Jyoti allegedly applied glue, claiming it would minimize scarring.
When confronted, the nurse defended her actions, stating, “I treated the wound to the best of my ability. Stitches would leave a permanent mark, so I applied glue only to the surface.”
Unconvinced and distressed, the boy’s family documented the incident and lodged a complaint with the Adoor Primary Health Center’s Health Protection Committee. Responding to the outcry, District Health Officer (DHO) Rajesh Suragiha has ordered an investigation and requested a comprehensive report on the matter.
