
Six of Family Killed in Tragic NH-48 Crash in Haveri
Haveri: A devastating road mishap on NH-48 near Motebennur village in Byadgi taluk claimed the lives of six family members on Thursday morning. The accident occurred when a car en route from Ranibennur to Hubballi collided head-on with a truck.
Police identified the deceased as Immaulla Afraz (27), Ummisifa Afraz (16), Alisha Naranagi (20), Pulkhan Naranagi (20), Ummera (15), and Asiya Khanlandara. Two others—Mehek (18) and Ummitaskin (11)—sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital in Hubballi.
The family, hailing from Ranibennur and Harihara, was reportedly traveling to attend a family function when their vehicle, allegedly speeding, rammed into a stationary lorry near Byadgi.
Haveri Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar visited the site and confirmed the fatalities. A case has been filed at Byadgi police station, and investigations are ongoing.
District in-charge minister Shivanand Patil expressed deep grief over the tragedy. “I offer my heartfelt condolences and wish a speedy recovery for the injured. I will consult the Chief Minister regarding compensation for the bereaved families,” he said.
The accident has sent shockwaves across the local communities, with many mourning the untimely loss of young lives.
