Yadgiri: In a heartwarming demonstration of communal harmony, Hindu and Muslim friends in Hunsagi town united to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. The celebration, which took place near a government model primary school, highlighted the spirit of unity between the two communities.
The event was marked by the collective effort of local youths who aimed to foster unity and friendship. Saddamhusena and Arun Dori, key members of the organising group, shared that the initiative was driven by a desire to promote communal harmony. On Saturday, the group transported Lord Ganesha to the site in a beautifully decorated vehicle and installed the deity for worship.
The Sneha Jeevi friends group, which includes individuals from the SC ward in Hunsagi, played a pivotal role in the celebration. Key figures from the group, such as Siddu Kattimani, Anjaneya Kattimani, Manjunatha Pramod Kattimani, and Chetana Ambresh Bharat, participated actively in the ceremony.
This year’s celebration is part of a continuing tradition in Hunsagi, where Hindus and Muslims have come together to honour Ganesh Chaturthi. According to Parasu Pujari and Bijanasabha Tonnur, the practice of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi jointly has been a longstanding tradition in the town. Daily offerings are brought from various houses in the ward, further illustrating the integration of cultural and religious practices.
The immersion ceremony, marking the end of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, is scheduled to take place on the fifth day. This event will conclude the celebrations with a communal spirit of togetherness and shared joy.
During the puja, several notable community members, including Kashim Saba Tonnoor, Ningu, Prakash, and Basavaraja, were present. Their attendance underscored the strong bond of friendship and unity between the Hindu and Muslim communities in Hunsagi. The ceremony not only celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi but also served as a powerful reminder of the strength found in communal cooperation and mutual respect.
