Hubballi: Students led by the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) and VTU Students’ Struggle Committee (VTUSSC), took out a protest rally in Hubballi, opposing the alleged anti-student policies of the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

The protest rally was taken out from Indira Glass House to Mini Vidhan Soudha, where a memorandum addressed to the Governor was submitted to Tahasildar.

The protesters alleged that errors were with the administration of the VTU but the students were being burdened. The demand to remove year back and critical year examination schemes for the Non-Choice Based Credit System (NCBCS) students, and to extend the 2010 examination scheme for one more year has not been fulfilled, said AIDSO leader Sharanu Gonawar.

The VTU delayed the announcement of results, and students of crash courses had to write up to 20 papers in just two months. Moreover, fee of all courses had also been increased, he lamented.

Delay in announcing of results by five months by VTU has put several students’ lives in a limbo, he added.

Unless and until the students clear at least 12 subjects out of the 16, they can’t go to the next semester. However, it is not humanly possible for the students to clear all the subjects within such a short period, he said.

Akshay Uramundin, Ranjit Dhupad, Kiran Malagi and others took part in the protest.
