Hubballi: The Dharawad District Working Journalists’ Association staged a silent protest against the arrest of Senior Journalist Mehboob Munavalli by the Davanagere District Police on the pretext of questioning.

The journalists took out a silent march from the Journalists’ Bhavan on Lamington Road here to the Tahasildar’s Office and submitted a memorandum to the State’s Home Minister.

Meanwhile, Executive Member of the Working Journalists’ Association Sangamesh Chilikai said that some policemen are unnecessarily harassing journalists who are going to cover news in the State, recently. This has resulted in reporters being reluctant to make objective reports fearlessly. There are cases of mediapersons being implicated in an unrelated case. A similar incident took place in the case of Journalist Mehboob Munavalli. They demanded that he should be released immediately.
