Hubballi: A Class VI student had to face the ire of his school headmistress for not getting his long hair cut.Irked by the fact that the boy had failed to get his hair cut, headmistress of St Paul’s School & College in the city tonsured the Class VI student in front of other students in the school premises on Wednesday.
In a complaint to officials of the Education department on Thursday, Cicil Borgayi, the boy’s father, said that though the headmistress had asked his son to cut his long hair he was unable to do so due to unavoidable reasons. Irked by this, the headmistress tonsured Samuel, he said. “My son is upset and is refusing to go to school. He is afraid of schools, teachers and even classmates,” he said. Cicil said the staff in the school were not giving proper information regarding the incident and they were sending him away, saying the headmistress was not there.
The teachers maintained that strict discipline was being maintained in the school and the boy had been asked to cut his long hair several times, however he had done so. So, he was tonsured.
Headmistress Lorita Vedamurthy was not available for comment.
