HUBBALLI: After Dharwad’s first confirmed Covid-19 case, Hubballi has recorded its second case involving an 11-month-old infant from Bairidevarkoppa. The baby is currently receiving treatment at KIMS Hospital, Hubballi.

Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu clarified that the infant has no travel history. The child was tested after health complications arose, confirming the infection.

She emphasized that there is no cause for panic as a majority of the population is vaccinated. Additionally, the new variant has not shown signs of causing severe illness so far. However, caution is necessary to prevent further spread. The health department is actively monitoring the situation and providing guidance.

Prabhu urged the public, especially children, to continue wearing masks. Individuals with cold symptoms or allergies should wear masks and adhere to safety protocols, similar to those followed during the peak of the pandemic. She also advised everyone visiting crowded places to wear masks to reduce transmission risks—not only of Covid-19 but also other contagious illnesses and allergies.
