Hubballi: The members of the Rajput community, who are protesting against the screening of the Hindi film “Padmavati”, across the country, took out a protest rally in Hubballi.

The community members took out a rally from Durgadabail to Rani Chennamma Circle, shouting slogans against the makers of the film and also burnt an effigy of the actor Deepika Padukone who plays the role of Queen Padmavati in the controversial Hindi film.

According to the protesters, there are deliberate efforts to misrepresent the history in the film. No one has the right to play with the sentiments of the people over such issues, they said.

“Rani Padmini or Padmavati is a divine personality for the Rajputs. The filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has portrayed the Rani in a bad manner and has distorted history. The film should be banned immediately or he has to remove the objectionable scenes which lowers the honour of Rani Padmavati. The Rajputs will not allow the film to release at any cost”, they said.

The local Rajput Samaj leaders Kalusingh Chauhan, Samundar Singh, Subhas Singh Rathode and others led the protest. Meanwhile, members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike extended support to the agitation and participated in the protest rally.
