Hubballi: Two young individuals have been apprehended by the authorities for their social media activity allegedly justifying the murder of Neha Hiremath, purportedly committed by Fayaz Khondunaik.
The arrested individuals, hailing from Dharwad, were taken into custody following a complaint filed by certain pro-Hindu activists. The complaint asserted that the pair had shared content insinuating a romantic involvement between Neha and Fayaz.
Reportedly, the suspects posted images of Neha, the victim, and Fayaz, the accused, accompanied by a caption reading, “Neha Fayaz true love, justice for love.”
Neha Hiremath, aged 23 and daughter of Niranjan Hiremath, a Congress Councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, was fatally stabbed on April 18 on the premises of BVB College.
Fayaz, the accused, initially fled the scene but was later apprehended by law enforcement.
It has been revealed that Neha was a first-year MCA student, and Fayaz had been her classmate.
The incident sparked widespread public outrage, leading to demonstrations in Hubballi, Dharwad, and various other locations.
The BJP criticized the Congress government, alleging leniency towards antisocial elements, and contended that the incident was being misrepresented by the ruling party as a matter of personal dispute.
