Hubballi: Three Congress councilors of Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) have tendered their “resignations” to the local Congress MLA stating that they were upset over the style of functioning of muncipal commissioner Major (Rtd) Siddalingayya Hiremath.

However, municipal Commissioner Hiremath has refuted the allegations and has said that he was just doing his duty as per rules and regulations.

The three Congress councilors, Kariyappa Bisgal, Rabiya Begum Amtoor and Abdul Wahab Mulla, have sent their resignations to MLA from Hubballi Dharwad East Assembly segment Prasad Abbayya.

They have alleged that the municipal commissioner is biased towards the councilors belonging to lower castes because of which funds were not being released for development works in their wards.

Further they alleged that he had no respect for the council members and consequently, they were not able to get works done in their respective wards.

However, Major Hiremath said that he was just doing his duty and there was no question of disrespecting anybody based on caste or religion. There is no question of releasing funds for a work being taken up violating norms,” he clarified.
