Hubballi: District In-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni has directed the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) authorities to use Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) technology for recording the attendance of doctors.
Presiding over a progress review meeting at KIMS, Kulkarni said though KIMS has bio-metric attendance system, a few doctors allegedly go to practise in private hospitals, after registering their attendance at the KIMS. RFID technology would help trace their movement, he said.
He asked the director of KIMS to always put on display the names of doctors on duty adding that particularly it should be ensured that the doctors drawing salaries above Rs 1 Lakh carried out their duties properly.
There should be a proper system to issue certificates to physically challenged persons at KIMS and they should not be made to frequent the hospital for paperwork, he said.
Deputy Commissioner Bommanahalli asked the hospital authorities not to forget their “moral responsibilities” as healthcare professionals. Dr. Bant said KIMS needed an additional Rs 40 Crore for maintenance of the facilities.
