Case filed against cable operator and GESCOM after woman electrocuted in Gulbarga
A case has been registered against a cable operator and the Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (GESCOM) following a shocking incident on Monday where a live electric wire caused injuries to a woman, Bhagyashree. The woman suffered severe burns after being electrocuted and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
The incident took place near Old Jewargi Cross, under the jurisdiction of the Station Bazar Police Station. Reports indicate that a school bus, transporting children with intellectual disabilities, was parked when a cable wire, which was in contact with an electric line, fell onto the bus. Bhagyashree, who was accompanying her son to board the bus, was electrocuted upon touching the vehicle due to improper earthing. Fortunately, no children were harmed in the incident.
Following the shocking event, City Police Commissioner Dr. Sharanappa S.D. along with other officials inspected the site to assess the situation. Authorities confirmed that a case has been filed against both the cable operator and GESCOM for negligence in maintaining the electric connections and cables.
The incident has raised concerns over the safety of electrical infrastructure in the region, with authorities promising a thorough investigation to prevent such accidents in the future.
