With summer approaching, the Kalaburagi District Disaster Management Authority has initiated proactive measures to address the expected drinking water crisis. A total of 253 villages have been identified as vulnerable, with Aland taluk being the worst affected (72 villages), followed by Afzalpur (37) and Kalagi (28).
Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum, authorities are holding weekly reviews with engineers and officials from the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department. Task Force Committees, led by local MLAs, have been set up at the taluk level, while tahsildars and executive officers are conducting joint inspections to ensure a steady water supply.
To combat the crisis, the administration has secured 328 private borewells and deployed 11 water tankers, including four from the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department. Emergency helplines at the Deputy Commissioner’s office and taluk offices operate daily to ensure that water requests are addressed within 24 hours.
“If any village faces shortages, immediate action will be taken in coordination with taluk and gram panchayat officials,” assured Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum. The administration remains committed to preventing a crisis and ensuring uninterrupted access to drinking water.
