Residents of Kalaburagi, both in urban and rural areas, are suffering due to frequent power cuts. These outages begin as soon as there is a light rain shower and plunge entire areas into darkness throughout the night.

Residents criticising the Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (GESCOM) for the lack of response from engineers despite complaints about the erratic power cuts even in areas surrounding their head office.

The recent power cuts during the counting of votes for the Northeast Graduate Constituency election was a prime example of GESCOM’s inefficiency and how serious the situation is.

The situation seems even worse in taluks and rural areas.  Kalaburgi residents are wondering why they face long power outages  even during clear weather conditions and blame the unspecified repair works. The unpredictable nature of these cuts, occurring every hour or even half hour, disrupting daily routines of the residents.

Residents like Anil Biradar express their frustration, stating the difficulty of completing daily tasks due to the unreliable power supply. Schools and colleges are also affected, with students facing issues preparing meals.

The public’s anger is directed towards GESCOM officials, with some resorting to using UPS systems to cope with the constant power cuts.
