The Kalaburagi city police shot and apprehended a notorious rowdy-sheeter, Avatarsingh, as he attempted to flee after assaulting police officers on Saturday. The incident occurred near Belur Cross, on the outskirts of the city, when officers from the Sub-urban Police Station went to arrest Avatarsingh, who is involved in multiple criminal cases.
During the arrest attempt, Avatarsingh, armed with a knife, assaulted the officers and tried to escape. In response, Sub-urban police station inspector Santosh Thattepalli shot him in the right leg, successfully immobilizing and arresting him. The injured Avatarsingh was subsequently admitted to GIMS Hospital in Kalaburagi, where he is currently receiving treatment.
City police commissioner confirmed that two police personnel were injured during the altercation. The authorities are investigating the incident further and ensuring that appropriate action is taken against the accused.
