Bellary: Ananthpur police of Andhra Pradesh have served notice to BJP MP B Sriramulu and asked to appear before them within eight days in connection with alleged purchase of illegal weapons in that state.
Police sources said that a police team from Threetown in Ananthpur, where the case had been registered against the MP, met Sriramulu at his residence here and questioned him for about half an hour and served the notice.
The action came on the basis of a statement by four persons from Ballari, who were arrested on August 12, linking the name of Sriramulu to the illegal purchase of four pistols which were seized from them by Ananthpur police.
Earlier, Sriramulu dismissed the claims of the four arrested persons and said he did not even know them. He said he was shocked that a case had been registered against him by Ananthpur police.
He said that it is an attempt to of his rivals to finish him off politically.
