Ballary: Labour Minister P T Parameshwar Naik who landed in controversy after he transferred a woman police officer for putting his call on hold has made the headlines yet again for all the wrong reasons. It has been reported that the minister also got a range forest officer transferred for cracking down on illegal sand mining in Kudligi taluk.

The principal chief conservator of forests, in his letter dated November 9, 2015, addressed to the additional secretary, forest, ecology and environment, explains the circumstances which led to the transfer of Duddagi, a range forest officer at Gudekote, in Kudligi taluk.

In the letter, it is also stated that the sand and quarry mafia had put pressure on the police for registering a false atrocity case against Duddagi.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police R Chetan had said that Anupama Shenoy has taken a sick leave for 15 days from January 24. However, it has been reported that she was forced to take a break in order to save the state government from embarassment.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday also clarified and said that the officer has been transferred for administrative reasons.

It may be recalled that Naik had publicly claimed that he had transferred deputy superintendent Anupama Shenoy for putting his call on hold for 30 seconds.

Now that the issue hit the headlines nationwide, it is learnt that All India Congress Committee chairperson Sonia Gandhi has sought a detailed report from the Chief Minister.
