Ballari: It was a big day for Ramesh, who secured the gold medal in Kannada MA at the 7th convocation of the Krishnadevaraya University of the city. What makes his achievements worthwhile is the fact that he worked as security guard for two years to pursue his post graduate studies.
A resident of Gundur village of Karatagi taluk of the Ballari district, Ramesh is a BA, BEd and now MA in Kannada. He worked as a security guard at the Gangavati Syndicate bank ATM for Rs.8,000 salary. To ensure that he does not miss his classes he worked only in the night shift between 10 pm and 6 am.
“I was reading in the night and in the day I attended classes at SKNG PG center of the city. My poverty is my inspiration, ” he said.
Life had never been easy for the young man who recalls his early days when he worked as construction worker, milk and paper delivery boy and the likes right from his childhood only to realise his dreams of higher education.
