Ballari: As the state government is likely to decide on the division of the Ballari district during the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, various organisations have called for a bandh in the district on the same day.
The bandh has been called to pressurize the state government into discarding the proposal to divide the district into two separate districts.
It can be recalled that all this began when former MLA of the Vijayanagara constituency Anand Singh took a delegation of pontiffs and people’s representatives from Ballari to Bengaluru to appeal to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to divide the district into two. Presently, the Ballari district has 11 taluks and Singh is pressurizing the state government to divide the district.
The Reddy brothers, however, are in complete opposition of the move. They have even threatened to resign from their posts as MLAs and from the BJP itself if the CM goes through with the decision to divide the district.
Now, all parties of the Ballari district have called for a district bandh on Tuesday. Various organisations have also extended their support to the bandh call.
