Bidar: Rs. 5,000 has been sanctioned for payment of bills for works undertaken under the Employment Guarantee Scheme. In a shocking incident, a farmer in the Taluk Panchayat office, who was upset over demanding of bribe, took his pair of bulls and requested them to sanction the bill.
Prashant Biradar of Bagaduri Village came to the Taluk Panchayat with his pair of bulls and said, Last year, under the employment guarantee scheme, a retaining wall was constructed for a pit on my farm. Rs. 1 lakh has been allocated for this work. The grant was sanctioned. I was paid Rs. 55,000 for the work. The remaining Rs. 45,000 has not been paid. The technical assistant asked for a bribe of 5 per cent (Rs 5,000) of the amount to sanction the money. “But since I have no money to pay the bribe, take the bullocks and sanction the bill,” he said.
On hearing the news, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Santosh Chauhan visited the spot and assured that necessary steps would be taken to pay the bill, after which the farmer returned home.
