Bidar: In a tragic incident, an SSLC student appeared for the exam and attended the last rites of her younger brother at the government high school examination centre in Talamadagi village.

Keerthana Prashanth of the village was a student who wrote the SSLC exam.

Details of the incident: There was an English language subject yesterday (Thursday) as per the schedule. Karthika, the brother of Keerthana, a student, died on Wednesday night after a prolonged illness. His last rites were to be performed on Thursday. The girl refused to take the exam as she was grieving the death of her younger brother. As soon as the matter came to light in the morning, the head of the examination centre Suresh Kattamani and custodian Mallappa Jigajeevani convinced the relatives, including the girl’s father, about writing the exam. As a result, the girl, Keerthana, wrote the English exam amidst grief. Later, she attended her brother’s funeral.
