Bidar: ‘Steps to be taken for continuous flight operations at Airport’

Bidar: The Bidar Airport, which was opened in 2020 as a result of continuous efforts since 2008, has completed three years on Saturday February 25 despite a lot of ups and downs.

Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Bhagwant Khuba said Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao (GMR) Organisation, which is responsible for the maintenance of the airport, is also doing well.

He was speaking after inaugurating a sapling planting and blood donation camp organised by GMR at Bidar Airport premises on Saturday February 25 in the backdrop of the third anniversary celebrations of Bidar Airport. Flight operations were suspended mid-way due to COVID – 19, he said and added he had already held discussions with Star Airlines after the flights resumed after COVID – 19 and assured them that it would address all issues, including daily flights, change of timings, etc., following complaints from locals that the airline was not operating continuously and on time.

“IndiGo has already held discussions with the company which has also promised to operate flights from Bidar to various cities in the coming days,” he said and added that indiGo has started its survey work and assured that if the promises made by these two firms are fulfilled, there will be regular flights from Bidar to various cities in April.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhupanna, Head of Operations, Star Airlines, said, “We are already in discussions with the network team for continuous flights from Bidar and assured that in the coming days, more Bidar insurance will be increased from the station and the new Amrer – 170 aircraft will be operated from Bidar, which will have a total of 76 seats, which will have 12 business class seats and will run at a speed of 850 kmph.”

Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli Foundation President Suryakanta Nagamarapalli said that Bidar City has good tourism destinations and regular flights from here will not only give a boost to tourism but also help in economic growth here.
