Bidar: “I am very happy to be inaugurating the Krishi Mela at the City,” said Bhalki MLA Ishwar B. Khandre.
He was speaking after inaugurating Krishi Mela organised at Bidar Fort as part of Bidar Festival on Saturday January 7.
The most important festival in Bidar Festival is the Krishi Mela. We need to understand why the farmers are in distress, even though the Bima Fasal Yojana is implemented for the farmers. It seems like most of the farmers are not getting the benefit. Due to liberalisation, and globalisation, farmers are not getting income, the reasons for crop reduction too should be taken into account as well as irrigation schemes should give more electricity connections to the farmers. Farmers are resorting to suicide due to falling prices of crops grown in the market, he said, adding that the State and Central Governments should work towards facilitating the farmers by implementing more programmes for the farmers.
