Bidar: Excise department officials have seized 3,065 tramadol tablets from a house that were stored without permission. The drugs, worth Rs 1.5 lakh, were confiscated by officials who were on election-related duty and discovered the pain-relieving tablets during a raid.

The raid targeted a house in Mangarwadi in the city, prompted by specific information that two individuals named Vikas and Ashok were storing and selling these tablets to people seeking a high due to their sedative properties.

Bidar Taluka Health Officer Dr. Sanga Reddy informed the media that these Tramadol, Dicyclomine, and Acetaminophen combination capsules should not be sold without a doctor’s prescription. These drugs work as sedatives and help manage acute pain, usually prescribed to patients for severe pain or post-surgery. Due to their propensity to induce excessive sleep, they are not typically available over the counter, he informed.

The raid was led by Excise DC Sangangouda Hosalli, with officers Ravi Murgod, Hanumanth Guttedar, and others in attendance.
